Everyone is working hard to flatten the curve of Covid-19. Whether you’re strictly socially isolating at home or heading out to a few select restaurants (and keeping a distance, of course), we’re all washing our hands a lot.

But it doesn’t have to be a chore. These five restaurants and bars have some of the coolest bathrooms in town, and they make washing your hands a pleasure.

New Punjab Club

There’s nothing more decadent than a gilded throne. See one for yourself at New Punjab Club, where the entire bathroom is a golden oasis. Pop in for a socially-distanced meal (they’ve reduced their seating area by half to keep everyone safe) and enjoy their golden bathroom as you sing your ABCs twice and wash your hands in the lap of luxury. Go ahead, take a few selfies – everyone looks good in gold.

Café Gray Deluxe

Some of the best views in Hong Kong can be found in the bathrooms of Café Gray Deluxe, in Pacific Place. Far up on the 49th floor, you’re washing your hands with an unparalleled vista of the famous skyline. It’s so stunning, you might even want to count for an extra 20 seconds, just to enjoy it a bit longer.

This Central speakeasy is full of secrets – and the bathroom is no exception. The toilet itself faces a massive two-way mirror, so you can see what’s happening inside the restaurant (but no one can see you!). If you’re not prepared, it can be a bit startling, but rest assured – you’ve still got full privacy, it just looks like a normal mirror from the other side. We don’t want to spoil the surprise completely, so you’ll have to visit for yourself to get the full effect.

Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

If it’s a photoshoot-worthy backdrop you’re after when you’re washing your hands, head to The Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. Their ladies’ room has been a favourite since the 1960s. It’s like walking into a country estate within the hotel itself because the décor is completely different. After you scrub your hands, take a minute to snap a few pictures in the luxe armchairs and pretend to be queen of your castle, if only for a moment.

Another speakeasy makes the list. This time, it’s Foxglove. Behind the umbrella shop-façade is a jazzy, opulent paradise. And the bathrooms are no exception. They draw their inspiration from ship-cabin heads, and you get to them through a Wes-Anderson-esque corridor. Once inside your private room, scrub away your problems in the dark wood-paneled cabins and check yourself out in the three circular mirrors.
